- US-based Exchange provides IT and comms for the media industry
- Deal will broaden range of connectivity services offered by Sohonet
- Post-acquisition expansion to focus on UK and Canada
Sohonet has acquired US-based IT and communication services provider Sycamore Communication (Exchange).
Sohonet, which provides connectivity, media services and network security for the media and entertainment industry, said the deal would broaden the range of connectivity and collaboration solutions each organisation can offer their media and entertainment customers.
In particular, it highlighted Exchange’s fixed production studio services for phones and video surveillance and remote production communications.
Sohonet said it will now invest in the expansion of Exchange Communications services, initially focusing on Canada and the UK.
Sohonet chief executive Chuck Parker said: “The additional range of world-class services our customers can now enjoy will help support and enhance their collaboration while they create their amazing features, episodics and advertisements.”
Sohonet is headquartered in London, with additional offices in the US, Canada and Australia. The company’s Media Network is a private network for the media and entertainment industry which connects studios, production and post-production facilities around the world.
“We’re excited to become part of the Sohonet family, with their purpose-built media network and SaaS-based collaboration services,” added Exchange chief executive Dave Thomas.
“Joining Sohonet will accelerate our vision to transform the way our customers collaborate and create their dazzling content.”
