- Rise opens 2020 mentoring programme to 20 participants
- 12 hours of professional support and networking over six months
- Deadline for entries is 17 March 2020
Rise, the advocate group for gender diversity within the broadcast manufacturing and services sector, has launched its third annual mentoring scheme.
The Rise mentoring programme for 2020 is now open for applications, calling for women across the broadcast sector looking to join a programme to support and encourage the professional development of likeminded women.
The UK-based programme will work with 20 mentees from across the broadcast industry including those working in operations, engineering, sales, marketing and business.
The mentoring programme is free of charge and is open to women already working within the sector but is also open to those who aspire to be in the sector that is currently working within another industry.
Rise director Carrie Wootten said: “The programme continues to deliver above and beyond the expected impact for all involved, mentees, mentors, as well as industry partners supporting it. We really cannot thank you all enough.”
“We are very much looking forward to welcoming 20 more women into the 2020 programme and supporting them throughout the next several months watching their progress and celebrating their successes.”
Each successful mentee entering the Rise scheme will be assigned a mentor and will have at a minimum of 12 hours of mentoring contact with their industry professional.
The mentees will also have the opportunity to meet with their mentee group on a monthly basis, as well as attend industry networking events and workshops throughout the six-month period.
The deadline for entries is 17 March and applications can be submitted here.

In a statement, mentees from 2019 “highly praised the programme” with one participant saying: “It is refreshing and inspiring to see such a great group of women supporting each other, learning from each other, in a positive and energetic environment.
“You leave every session with desire and passion to do more and confidence knowing you can do anything you put your mind to it.”
Since its launch three years ago, Rise has also launched Rise Up, a new industry-led school outreach programme that aims to inspire and educate children on engineering and technology opportunities in the broadcast, media and entertainment industries.
Last year, Rise held its inaugural Rise Awards at IBC2019 to celebrate winners who were recognised with outstanding talent, skills, expertise and achievements across the broadcast technology and services sectors.
