UK producers organisation Pact has endorsed the Call It! App, which aims to create a safer and fairer working environment for producers and their employees.
With the guarantee of anonymity, the Call It! App is a data collection and signposting tool that creates a psychologically safe space for workers to share their experiences in the workplace.
The app was founded by three industry freelancers – two producers and a director – and is not-for-profit. Pact will be promoting the app to its 700+ members at a discounted rate.
The app is able to ask everyone working on productions, “How were you treated at work today?”

It aims to build trust between workers and project leadership, opening lines of communication. There is the option to monitor concerns regarding health and safety, safeguarding and working conditions. It can also measure and prevent bullying and harassment on productions or within companies.
Furthermore, it can support teams by signposting discreet, confidential mental health services at partner organisations.
The move comes amid ongoing concern about mental health and wellbeing within the TV and film industries.
Pact Deputy CEO and Director of Legal and Business Affairs, Max Rumney, said: “Pact Council recently approved the endorsement of the Call It! App, as part of its ongoing work to achieve a safer and fairer working environment for members and their employees. We would encourage all members to consider signing up to the app and taking advantage of the Pact member discount”.
