IBC Conference

In Conference Room 1 at 10:00 “AI in Action Case Studies” introduces Sky’s Huma Lodhi and ITV’s Hardeep Dhaliwal are part of a series of case studies providing a deep dive into AI’s real world applications that are optimising operations and unlocking new business opportunities.

At 13:45, the CEO & Founders Panel invites “Women-led generative AI startups reimagining media & entertainment” for audience to gain insight from each executive on how on they differentiate and scale using AI found success leading their organisations during this incredibly exciting time.

In the Delegate Lounge at 17:15, “In Conversation” with award-winning journalist and filmmaker, Mstyslav Chernov on his Oscar-Winning work documenting life in Ukraine, 20 Days in Mariupol.

IBC Technical Papers

Sunday wraps up the Technical Paper sessions from 11:00 with four papers divulging on “Advances in Video Coding – encoder optimisations and film grain.”

Next up at 14:30 is the “5G Case Studies – public network slicing trials and striving for low latency” providing trials covering major events, and a collaborative effort to optimise 5G for low latency production in both TV studio settings and multi-camera outdoor broadcasts.

Then at 16:00, “5G Technology - convergence with broadcast” showcases papers that seamlessly blend 5G and traditional broadcast, with PoC’s, tools for service migrations and discoveries.

IBC Awards

Time to pop the corks as Sunday is the day IBC celebrates the high achievers and innovators across the industry as Conference Room 1 hosts the annual IBC Innovation Awards 2024 & International Honour for Excellence.

The presentation will include the recipient of this year’s International Honour for Excellence and the winner of the Technical Papers. The invite-only Awards also include the presentation of the IBC International Honour for Excellence.

Innovation Stage

“Design Your Weapons in the Fight Against Disinformation” kicks off Day three at 10:45 on the Innovation Stage for the IBC Accelerators projects, where the goal is to develop an industry -wide understanding on the challenges faced today by all media outlets in identifying and tackling disinformation.

At 13:30 Participants and Champions from “Digital Replicas and Talent ID: Provenance, Verification and New Automated Workflows” get together to address the evolving disruption within the Media & Entertainment industry in the authentication and management of talent in today’s digital landscape.

Other sessions on the Innovation stage include Harnessing Gen AI in Media: Optimising Workflows with AI-Driven 400G/800G Networking Infrastructure at 12:45 and Harnessing AI for Live Video at 14:45.

Content Everywhere

Stage 1 in Hall 5 starts a full day of Free-to-Attend sessions at 10:15 with How to build a private CDN in 15 minutes,” shortly followed by an expert panel discussing “Delivering live content at scale” at 10:45.

As the day goes on, at 14:30, “Global sports streaming service DAZN rises to the challenge of delivering live sports to all platforms,” and at 17:00 an expert panel give an update on 5G innovations for M&E.

Stage 2 will host Freemantle, Yobi and Microsoft at 12:15 with “Data + AI unlock the full lifecycle of programming monetisation,” and V-Nova will address “How a hierarchical codec can accelerate AI vision by >5x” at 14:30.

Showcase Theatre

In the free-to-attend Showcase Theatre in Hall 8 closes on day three, kicking off the day at 10:30 with Verizon and NHL on “Delivering NHL content over 5G networks.”

Then Diversified wraps up the stage with his session “Media Production Without Boundaries: Streamlined, Scalable and Decentralised,” introducing their solution that equips clients to understand, optimise, and transition to decentralised infrastructures, enabling faster market entry and monetisation.

IBC Esports Zone

The future of esports, the convergence of esports and broadcasting and how the industry can get there will be the buzz in IBC’s esports zone in Hall 8.

Today’s esports focus ranges from “Bringing esports to pros and casuals around the world,” with Acezone at 11:30, to “Creating clear audio in the loudest of digital battles,” whereby Glensound will join the discussion at 15:00 on how to bring clear, precise and low latency to the biggest esports stages.

AI Tech Zone

Powered by EBU, is the AI Tech Zone in Hall 14 is the brand new addition to IBC at the RAI.

Day three begins with a bang as the pioneering creation of the first musical piece composed by artificial intelligence (AI) and performed by a symphony orchestra in Spain is presented by RTVE Innovation Media Lab at 10:00 in “RTVE’s Double Blind Trail of AI-Composed Classical Music.”

On a similar beat, KBS and the University of Seoul will deliver a talk on “Transforming Music Shows with AI - Immersive Viewing and Innovative Fan Engagement” at 10:25.

Later on at 15:45, Seagate will explore “Shaping the Future of AI Storage,” and EBU will reveal how they work with members to gives their content producers the tools and workflows to make news content fully multilingual and reach across the whole of Europe, at 16:30 in “How AI helped bring a European Perspective to News.”

Exhibition floor

Out on the Exhibition floor, you can expect the usual hive of activity with stands from the biggest names in the industry and those new start-ups breaking the mould, all demonstrating their cutting edge tech.
