IBC2022: Back in 1996 Al Jazeera, the Arabic-language satellite channel, launched its first news broadcast from Doha. The 1996 launch was considered revolutionary and marked the beginning of a new era of TV News in the Middle East. Al Jazeera is the first 24-hours news channel in the Arab world.
Al Jazeera’s 25th anniversary revamp project aimed at sparking a 1996 like moment in news delivery. Al Jazeera set a goal to continue being in an infinite game to lead the industry into a new era of redefining news delivery, just like how it helped start it all in the MENA region.
Al Jazeera Talk at IBC indulges in the story of the network’s overhaul of its studios production, screens, workflows, and storytelling. It tells behind the scenes stories of how Al Jazeera’s teams shifted the paradigm of news delivery; transforming Al Jazeera into a compelling interactive and explanatory experience.
The session consists of three parts; and will be presented by Dr Mohamed Moawad, Al Jazeera’s Managing Editor, Mr Ahmad Alfahad, Executive Director of Technology and Network Operations and a representative from Clickspring.
The session will lay out the vision behind the project and what initiated it in the first place, with Dr Moawad guiding us through the strategy Al Jazeera articulated based on consumer behavior research to optimize the news production based on its audience needs.
