Netflix has launched a new gaming app called Netflix Playground that is aimed at children aged eight and under.
Included with all Netflix membership tiers, the app features games built around popular children’s characters such as Peppa Pig and Sesame Street.
Netflix Playground is available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. It will be released in the rest of the world on 28 April 2026.
Games on offer include Playtime With Peppa Pig, which include activities such as caring for guinea pigs, driving a bus, and making a smoothie.
The Sesame Street game will allow kids to “hang out with Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Oscar, and more beloved puppet pals” to “practice matching with memory cards or coordination with connect-the-dots,” said Netflix.
Other games based on animated IP include Dr. Seuss’s Horton!, Storybots, and Bad Dinosaurs.
The streaming giant said it wanted to “make Netflix a curated space where parents know kids are entertained, engaged, and enriched”.
Netflix also announced the renewal of kids shows Trash Truck for a third season and more episodes of The Creature Cases, and announced Young MacDonald, a new musical series that follows the optimistic and playful grandson of Old MacDonald and his animal friends as they solve problems, and learn about farm life is being added to our lineup.
"We’re building a world where kids can not only watch their favourite stories but also step inside them and interact with their favourite characters,” said John Derderian, Vice President of Animation Series + Kids and Family TV of Netflix. “We’re creating a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play. Whether it's reuniting with Hank and the Trash Truck crew for new adventures or making a smoothie with Peppa Pig, watching and playing on Netflix can be the fun and easiest part of every family's day."
Major studios and streaming platforms are accelerating their push into video game adaptations, with commissions increasing by an average of 30% per year since 2019, according to new research by Ampere Analysis. Discover more here.
