The leanDAB from Kathrein Broadcast is a low power DAB+ transmitter developed in partnership with Swiss DAB broadcast specialists Digris and PrecisionWave.
It’s a full-featured software-defined VHF DAB transmitter with filter and GNSS receiver integrated in a compact weatherproof box, which makes it ideal for small scale DAB applications or gap filling in challenging environments.
The leanDAB also includes an integrated RF filter (ETSI non-critical mask compliant) and a GNSS receiver, which offers the capability to use it in single frequency networks. For the program MUX input, the modulator supports an ETSI defined EDI interface via a RJ45 GbE connection.
Anton Vogl, product and technical sales senior project manager, Kathrein, said: “With its integrated filter and antenna, the leanDAB is an all-in-one solution that can be located directly onto a tower; it only needs a power supply and signal input to operate. This makes it very easy for customers to install and very efficient.”
