Media player NexPlayer and cloud-based digital rights management specialist EZDRM have partnered to provide OTT service providers with a multi-platform product including Widevine DRM support for all device types.

The aim is to enable OTT companies to integrate enhanced content and monetisation control methods. EZDRM’s main goals are to simplify integration efforts and reduce operational barriers to using this technology.

NexPlayer claims to have developed the only Widevine DRM player that works across all Android and iOS devices while supporting both HLS and MPEG-DASH streaming protocols. As a Certified Widevine Implementation Partner (CWIP), NexPlayer is authorised to pre-integrate Widevine DRM into its player SDKs and distribute it on a global scale.

EZDRM and NexPlayer said they not only provide a common infrastructure, but also commit to long-term maintenance of the solution as component technologies evolve.

Carlos Lucas, general manager, NexPlayer, said: “It is a great opportunity for NexPlayer to work hand-in-hand with one of the leading DRM providers in the industry, helping assure that our customers’ video content will always be secure against hacking. In addition, the market will now have access to a complete solution that allows premium video streaming across all devices with Widevine DRM protection.”
