HBO Max has confirmed it is set to launch in the UK and Ireland in March 2026
Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO Max, unveiled the launch plan at a presentation in London on Wednesday 3 December 2025.
Earlier in the week, the streamer confirmed it will also launch in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein on 13 January 2025.
The launches mark a major expansion for HBO Max into key European countries.
The service is already available in over 100 markets worldwide, offering content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, the DC Universe, New Line Cinema, and Max Originals.
Until now, much of HBO Max’s content has played on Sky in the UK and Ireland markets.
HBO Original series include IT: Welcome to Derry, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Euphoria, Industry, The Seduction, and the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set a century before Game of Thrones.
Notable Max Original series include Emmy-award winner The Pitt. Additionally, its film offering includes Superman, The Batman, Dune, Harry Potter, Weapons and The Conjuring: Last Rites.
HBO Max will also carry the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, which runs February 6-22, in Europe.
Its sports slate also includes the Australian Open and Roland-Garros, as well as cycling’s Tour de France.
HBO Max launched first in the US in 2020 and has since expanded across Latin America, Europe, Central Asia, and Asia Pacific. The UK and Ireland launch in March 2026 will complete its European rollout. For the third financial quarter of 2025, parent company Warner Bros. Discovery reported 128 million streaming subscribers.
JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “We are thrilled to bring HBO Max and the stories that stick with you to new countries across Europe this January. With our strongest line-up of US and local HBO series yet, blockbuster local and international movies, and the Olympic Winter Games, it is the perfect time to make HBO Max available directly to subscribers. It has never been easier to enjoy the most talked-about series, hit movies, unmissable live sports, and extraordinary real-life stories.”
Warner Bros Discovery recently launched its streaming service HBO Max in 14 markets across the Asia-Pacific region. Discover more here.
