- Parasite takes home Best Picture and Best Director
- Roger Deakins takes home second Oscar for 1917
- Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, Bradd Pitt & Laura Dern win acting gongs
South Korean film Parasite has made Oscars history by becoming the first non-English movie to scoop the Best Picture gong at the Academy Awards.
Parasite won four awards in total, including Best Director for Bong Joon-ho, ahead of favourite 1917 which took home three awards, including Best Cinematographer for Roger Deakins.
“I feel like I’ll wake up to find it’s all a dream. It all feels very surreal,” Bong said in his acceptance speech. He also took awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature.
1917 had been widely tipped to scoop most of the big prizes, following big wins at other awards including the Baftas, but the Sam Mendes war film only won in three of the 10 categories it was nominated in - all technical awards.
Joker, which has received the most nominations, won in two categories: Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Best Score.
