Future Tech: Base to present its transformation of cloud services

Base Founder and CEO Ben Foakes works with cloud services and software hosting for the media and entertainment industry.

At IBC2025, Base will be outlining a three-step approach it uses with clients, which includes: migrating content and systems to the cloud, building a centralised content hub and then transforming workflows through integration with third-party systems. Foakes describes a growing demand for cloud-first architecture, driven by distributed teams working across multiple time zones and the broader shift among vendors towards software as a service (SaaS) models.

He also believes that artificial intelligence (AI) has been a significant development, particularly in content indexing and searchability. Looking ahead, Foakes expects the volume of media content to continue growing across a wider range of platforms beyond traditional television. Foakes suggests this will create increasing challenges around data management and infrastructure as content ecosystems grow larger and more complex.
