Ruwido transforms the remote control

Remote control specialist Ruwido has transformed a traditional remote control into a service-oriented platform, enabling communication, targeted promotion, and new revenue opportunities.

A touch-sensitive LCD button, integrated into the remote, can be programmed and configured dynamically by the TV service provider, allowing it to deliver targeted and trackable promotions, notifications and advertising.

Service providers can engage customers with content such as local or breaking news and trending short-form videos, while monetising that engagement through upselling content, promoting special event pop-up channels, selling sports tickets, or leasing button space to partners for targeted promotions.

The remote itself represents only 20% of the addressable promotion service – the remaining 80% is in the backend and real-time AI-driven analytics.

The opt-in experience is designed to respect the user’s attention and to provide value, says Ruwido.
