XGen Network (XGN), part of the 5G Broadcast Collective (5GBC), will exhibit the world’s first demonstration of ancillary data delivery to a road sign using 5G Broadcast at IBC2024.
The development marks a new era in 5G Broadcast where the rapid delivery of critical information to digital infrastructure becomes a reality, particularly when cell service goes down. The implications are profound, offering a transformative shift in how we think about emergency communication. The ability to broadcast time-sensitive emergency alerts directly to digital signage is the difference between chaos and safety, potentially saving countless lives.
Frank Copsidas, CEO, XGN, said: “This is more than just a technological advancement; it is a revolution in how we communicate, respond to emergencies, and connect with our surroundings. The versatility and power of 5G Broadcast makes it a must-have tool for future infrastructure systems. XGN’s 5G Broadcast technology also presents new business models for broadcasters.”
Based in Stamford, Connecticut, USA, XGN is a pioneer in advancements of 5G Broadcast. In September 2023, XGN made headlines by launching the world’s first 24/7 5G Broadcast station, WWOO, in Boston, Massachusetts. In October 2023, XGN made software available for the public to receive 5G Broadcast on SDR’s.
5G Broadcast Collective (5GBC), a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing the technology of 5G Broadcast, will be exhibiting in Hall 14 (Content Everywhere) at IBC2024 in Amsterdam, stand number: 14.B17
