The Swiss/Korean lens maker, Irix, has released its first cine lens: the Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1.
It offers full-frame coverage (43.3mm) and will come with PL, MFT, Canon EF or Sony E mounts.
It has sufficient resolution for 8K, and its complex optical system is based on the same layout used in its award-winning 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1. It has 12 optical elements in 9 groups, four using high refractive index glass, and three low-dispersion glass, which means hardly any chromatic aberration and almost no visible distortion (0.1%).
It has 11 iris blades with rounded edges for smooth, neutral bokeh, and comes in a weather-proof housing, with a fixed rear element for anti-dust protection. It has an industry standard 0.8 pitch mod focus ring, 86mm front filter thread and 95mm front diameter for cine accessories.
It also has an adaptive ring that offers a larger area for better manual handling that is still compatible with follow-focus systems. The focus ring has 270° throw. It also has a magnetic mount for quick and easy attachment of accessories – the first of which is the detachable, reversible lens hood (included).
Irix is exhibiting at IBC2019 on Stand 12.A61.
