The new Mini PAGlink MPL50G provides the benefits of PAG’s established battery linking technology in a more compact, lightweight format.
PAG claims it is also the first broadcast battery with a user-changeable output unit - a 5v 2A USB that is swappable for a Hirose, Lemo or a second D-Tap.
The 50Wh Li-ion battery is compatible with full-sized Gold Mount plates and PAG’s new MPLG mount, which is better suited to smaller cameras.
Weighing just 350g, it is ideal for smaller cameras or anyone wanting to carry less weight, but has the outputs to power the accessories broadcasters require. Besides that, user-changeable output it also has a fixed 12v D-Tap.
Unlike other mini format batteries, the MPL50G offers intelligent linking for charge or discharge. The PAGlink technology allows users link up to eight batteries, in any state-of-charge. The MPL50G can also be linked with larger PAGlink batteries, providing a current draw of up to 12A. A battery can be hot-swapped, for continued shooting. Sharing current demand between batteries prolongs their life.
It is also the first modular battery, designed to be fully serviceable. Authorised replacement of modules, including cells, is possible, while maintaining compliance with UN standards for flight safety.
PAGlink is exhibiting at IBC2019 on Stand 12.B30.
