Vitec Group companies SmallHD and Wooden Camera have introduced a range of accessories for the new Red Komodo camera, including monitors, lens mounts, baseplates, top plates, quick release plates and various other fixings.

The new SmallHD Focus Pro Series monitors for the Komodo are available in both 5in 720p LCD and 1080p OLED versions, with dynamic touchscreen camera control. The LCD has an 800 nits daylight display while the OLED offers richer colour saturation and a wider viewing angle. They both have 3G-SDI input and are powered using L Series-type batteries or via a locking two-pin power input from the Komodo.

Connected via the 5-pin locking USB port, remote control functionality enables access to camera operations and project settings such as recording format, resolution, frame rate, shutter speed, aperture adjustment, autofocus, output tone map, highlight roll-off, 3D LUTs, Run/Stop and more.

Weighing 272g, Focus Pro has a sturdy, milled aluminium chassis with three 1/4-20 mounting points make it easy to secure to a rig, while a new Focus Pro Hinge Mount (sold separately - $99) gives users the flexibility to tilt the monitor for optimal viewing.

There are four variants of Focus Pro starting at $599. Mon-Focus-Pro and Mon-Focus-Pro-OLED include the monitor, glass screen protector and a cleaning cloth. Kits are also available with a Red DSMC2 Camera Control License and a 90cm Camera Control Cable. The Camera Control licence for Komodo may also be purchased separately. Focus Pro LCD is expected to ship in August, while OLED versions are slated for September.

Wooden Camera’s range of Red Approved accessories are expected to ship in August. The Accessory Kits range from Base, Advanced and Pro and include all-new Red Komodo specific accessories like the LW 15mm Baseplate (Red Komodo) and Complete Top Mount Kit (Red Komodo, Arca-Swiss).

The Complete Top Mount Kit features a brand-new Top Mount that provides a centre Arca-Swiss style dovetail clamping slot as well as 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded holes for attaching accessories. The kit includes all three top mount Arca-Swiss accessories: Top Handle, Monitor Hinge and Top Plate.

Each Arca-Swiss accessory is also available as a Top Mount Kit or separately. To mount each Arca-Swiss accessory to the camera, the Top Mount is required. This provides users the option to mix and match accessories as needed.

Designed specifically for the Red Komodo, the Canon RF to PL Mount Pro (Red Komodo) adapts PL lenses to the Canon RF mount on the camera.

The B-Box (Red Komodo) attaches to the camera-right BP-9 battery slot and provides a breakout for the camera’s EXT connector. The Battery Slide Pro V-Mount or Gold Mount for Red Komodo can be used simultaneously and a custom right-angle Lemo-compatible connector allows for a neat cable run. Canon BP-9 batteries can also be attached in the camera-left slot while B-Box is used. Available ports include: R/S (three-pin Fischer), Timecode (five-pin Lemo), CTRL (four-pin Lemo), 5v (USB), and Genlock (BNC).

The camera can be powered with the V-Mount or Gold Mount adapters. When used with the Battery Slide Extension for Canon BP-955 (Red Komodo), the user can hot swap between Canon BP-955 batteries and the power plate by setting the plate flush with the top or bottom of the camera, loosening the thumbscrew and sliding it into the desired position. Additional power accessories will be released in August.
