Tilta has introduced several rigging kits and mix-and-match accessories for the new Red Komodo 6K Super35 camera, including a cage, power modules and handles. Kits start in price from $199 for a basic handheld rig, rising to $539 for its professional kit.
The 279g cage ($129) comes in two colours (black or ‘tactical’) and covers the entire Komodo body, with “a unique slide-in design”. It has 3/8in and 1/4in screw slots plus custom rosettes that fit the rest of its accessories, such as handles and SSD holders.
The top plate includes a cold shoe slot, for fitting further accessories, such as a monitor arm, wireless video transmitter or articulating arm. The adjustable top handle can be set up in various configurations and easily balanced (with a button press adjustment). The arm linking to the handle also has a cold shoe mount, plus a 15mm rod holder for accessories. There is also a 90º top handle that adjusts orientation with another button push. Those two handles have two cold shoe slots (at either end) with safety pins – a third handle has one shoe.
The separate power module weighs 205g. It has a 5v USB port, two 14.8v B-Tap connections and two 14.8v two-pin Lemo ports. There is also an advanced power distribution module, which adds multiple power ports, including: run/stop port; timecode; control port; genlock; 5v USB; 14.8v B-Tap and 14.8v Lemo (one of each). Users can fit alternative battery plates, with a choice of small or big V-mount or Gold Mount (Anton Bauer) plates. There is also a dual Canon BP battery to V-mount adapter plate.
There is also a multi-functional adapter plate, with a standard 15mm dovetail slot with built-in 3/8in and 1/4in screw slots.
The rig is compatible with Manfrotto and Arca quick-release plates, for faster set up. There is a choice of two 15mm lightweight baseplates, with dual rod holders, including one with a Manfrotto slide-in slot.
There is also a choice of multi-angle side handles, including: a $69 wooden handle compatible with the 15mm baseplate; and adjustable (360º) power handle, which powers the camera or Nucleus Nano motor (for Tilta’s wireless lens control system), and extends the shooting time; and an adjustable focus handle.
Other accessories available include: rod holders, extension arms, Nato rail adapters, phone mounting bracket, and an RF to PL lens adapter.
