Audio and video quality measurement and analysis systems company Video Clarity has revealed details of the new production format support offered by the latest versions of its ClearView test and measurement solution.
Video Clarity systems have provided ST 2110 network interfaces for several years, and now the company is introducing new support for 4K and UHD formats for ClearView full reference quality testing.
These new capabilities are being provided first in the new ClearView 9.4, which applies to specific new ClearView system models or on-premise ClearView Software applied to a minimum specification of server or VM using Mellanox ConnectX-5 or higher network adapters.
Applying high speed network interface to full reference test systems allows the user to perform a well-known technique for testing encoder processing quality – whether it is applying JPEG XS, HEVC, AV1, or another emerging codec. The user may easily capture UHD video, then feed the original source content chosen for testing into the network while simultaneously recording the content that has been encoded and decoded as a fully uncompressed sequence to test for quality.
Specific applications include testing and comparing separate vendor codec implementations and testing a varying set of content and bit-rates through a content delivery network in order to find the best quality for the required device and picture format.
