It’s been a roaring return to form for the IBC Show, with thousands of exhibitors and delegates thronging the halls of the RAI in Amsterdam once again.
Here we take a preliminary look at some of the key moments planned for the final day - Day Four (Monday, 12th September) - of the IBC 2022 Show, where the paid-for Conference track has given way to a free-to-attend selection of events. These include two Changemakers tracks, as well as the Showcase Theatre, Innovation Stage and Content Everywhere stages.
Changemakers: EDCF and immersion
Day Four sees the European Digital Cinema Forum (EDCF) once again hosting its long standing and much anticipated EDCF Global Cinema Seminar at 10:00 in E102. The Seminar will address the key issues facing the industry, such as creative solutions to supply chain issues, the challenge of sustainability in the film and cinema sectors, light steering technology for projection, broadening out and delivery of content supply and issues around cybersecurity and content.
Across on the parallel Changemakers track in the Forum, 11.15 sees a panel session - ‘Women in immersive tech: State of the immersive technology sector in UK & Europe in 2022’ - take on the challenge of condensing the burgeoning immersive sector. The expert entrepreneurs on the panel will explore the state of the market and fuel it with personal experiences.
Showcase Theatre: News delivery and esports
The Showcase Theatre in Hall 12 begins Day Four at 10am with a guaranteed crowd-pleaser from Al Jazeera - ‘How Al Jazeera is shifting the paradigm of news delivery’.
The presentation will tell the story of the network’s overhaul of its studio production, screens and workflows, including behind the scenes stories of how Al Jazeera’s teams transformed Al Jazeera into a compelling interactive and explanatory experience.
The Showcase Theatre wraps up for 2022 with a presentation on ‘New frontiers for esports: The next wave of innovation’ at 12:00, which will discuss the lessons that can be learned from the popular and innovative esports sector.
Innovation Stage: Accelerators
Across on the Innovation Stage, a completely free track for all IBC 2022 attendees, the last duo of IBC Accelerator programme presentations wrap up, with ‘Accelerator - Volumetric video for broadcasting, metaverse production and RT3D assets’ beginning the day at 11am, followed by ‘Accelerator - Next generation news studio’ at 11.15.
Content Everywhere: OTT reach and LCEVC
The Content Everywhere Stage in Hall 5 ends the schedule with a blast of panels and fascinating demos, the 10.30 Panel ‘Going global: Extending the reach of OTT content and services across borders’ setting the tone. Later in the day at 11.30 the Demo ‘MPEG-5 LCEVC | V-Nova: MPEG-5 LCEVC and sustainability in streaming’ takes a technical but vital look at the role of standards in sustainability and the benefits delivered by LCEVC.
Exhibition floor: Thousands of opportunities
