Comcast-owned Metrological launched its new Lightning partner programme as part of efforts to drive Lightning as a key global standard for TV app and UX development.
The programme provides TV operators and content providers with a network of resources to help bring Lightning-based TV apps and UXs to market faster and more cost efficiently.
Metrological explained that Lightning is an open-source, lightweight framework and software development kit (SDK) for developing UX and TV apps.
Greg Riker, head of the Lightning partner programme for Metrological, said the programme begins with community partners Amdocs and TV2Z, “and an existing talent pool of more than 100 individual developers”.
Riker added: “The programme creates a specialised community of trusted and experienced TV app development firms and app developers. Our TV operator and content provider customers can leverage this network to speed up development for Lightning-based apps, and reduce development and maintenance costs. As such, we are pleased that TV operators will be able to source more state-of-the-art Lightning-based TV apps from the Metrological App Library as the community grows.”
