Whether employed in control rooms, OB vans or hybrid production setups, BFE’s KSC Open Controller Interface is opening up its KSC Core control and monitoring system to third-party hardware controllers.
The interface enables connection to any hardware device with minimal integration; the KSC Open Controller Interface retains the control logic, while the hardware controllers are used solely for input and display. The interface supports communication via WebSocket as standard, but BFE says it can be extended to other protocols. KSC functions can be assigned to control elements and text, colour and dynamic graphics like audio bar graphs.
BFE says that the idea for the development came from feedback at last year’s IBC. Marco Lennartz, KSC Operations Manager, BFE, explained: “We have customers who have more modest challenges and don’t need big control panels. Now the software is open to every control panel on the market, customers can tailor the panel to their own requirements.”
