Al Jazeera Media Network (AJMN) and Globecast have announced the successful launch of a comprehensive new global distribution solution of the AJMN suit of channels on multiple delivery platforms.
Building on a relationship that began with the launch of Al Jazeera English in 2006, Globecast is now providing AJMN with a comprehensive suite of managed distribution services. These include global satellite distribution on five continents, along with terrestrial distribution to affiliates and a back-up cloud OTT platform for their suite of channels including Al Jazeera English, Arabic and Documentary.
The solution has been designed to maximise quality of service backed by reliable, round-the-clock supervision and support using a dedicated and resilient infrastructure with seamless switching capabilities. Such a setup will achieve the highest level of availability and control, allowing Globecast to better manage the service and any change request in line with the priorities of AJMN.
“Our partnership with Al Jazeera Media Network has been a journey of mutual growth and learning,” said Giorgio Giacomini, Managing Director for MENA at Globecast. “Their unrivalled technical expertise has consistently pushed us to innovate and excel, and we’ve learned as much from them as we’ve given. This has been instrumental in developing this next-generation solution.”
“Working closely with Globecast allows us to deliver our content with utmost confidence, knowing that their expertise and technical prowess will maintain the broadcast quality our audience expects,” said Ahmed AlFahad, Executive Director of Technology and Network Operations at Al Jazeera Media Network. “Their dedicated infrastructure, along with the seamless distribution and management services, is now vital for our continued success on a global scale.”
Launched in 1996, Al Jazeera was the first independent news channel in the Arab world dedicated to providing comprehensive news and live debate. The network encompasses five TV channels: Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Jazeera English, Al Jazeera Balkans, Al Jazeera Documentary, and Al Jazeera Mubaher. Additionally, it maintains a robust digital presence with platforms such as AJ+ Arai, AJ+ English, AJ+ Español, AJ+ Français, and AJ+ Español.
Globecast is the leading broadcast, media & entertainment managed services platform leading the way in the move to the cloud by providing consulting, integration and 24x7 managed services.
