Peter Chernin’s US-based studio The North Road Company has hired Amy Israel in the role of President of Television.
Israel was most recently the head of scripted for Showtime, and announced in September she would be stepping down from the role by the end of 2024.
In her new role, Israel will oversee all of North Road’s scripted television development and production.
The role reunites her with her former Showtime boss David Nevins, who was appointed as North Road's CEO in July and to whom Israel will report.
“Amy is among the best in the business, the driving force behind a long list of the most impactful shows in our time,” Nevins said. “I know first-hand the value of her unique combination of creative leadership and producorial drive, and I am fully confident she will make a fantastic addition to North Road’s leadership and the ongoing expansion of our industry-leading content portfolio.”
Israel originally joined Showtime in 2011 and was responsible for shows such as who was responsible for series such as Billions, The Affair and Yellowjackets.
Before Showtime, Israel was Executive Vice President Of Production at New Regency. Prior to that, she was Head Of Production And Acquisitions for Paramount Vantage and Co-Head Of Acquisitions And Co-Production at Miramax.
“It’s a thrill to join Peter, David, Jenno, and the rest of the stellar executive team at North Road,” said Israel. “As the industry continues to evolve, I remain passionate in my advocacy for artists and protecting their visions. I cannot wait to bring even more extraordinary storytellers, both established and emerging, into the North Road fold, leveraging both its artist-friendly model and the unique resources it offers creative partners to create world-class television.”
North Road has over 85 active productions in the works, including series as The Madness from Stephen Belber, Apple TV+’s Chief of War created by and starring Jason Momoa, and The Yankees Win, a docuseries about one of history’s most successful and popular sports franchises.
