Percon’s new armoured SMPTE311M cable is designed to deliver maximum durability in demanding broadcast environments and combines robust mechanical protection with high-performance transmission capabilities.
At its core is a spiral steel armour that protects the cable from heavy impacts and crushing forces. Complementing this is a tough PUR (polyurethane) outer jacket, which resists tearing and abrasion during frequent deployment and retraction. Each internal fibre is further shielded by individual Kevlar reinforcements, significantly increasing the cable’s resistance to stress and damage.
Its new design directly addresses some of the most common failure points found in traditional SMPTE cables. These include fibre breakage due to equipment rolling over the cable, longitudinal cuts from poor winding/unwinding practices, and compromised watertight seals. It also reduces the risk of copper short circuits caused by sudden impacts and fibre damage from tight bends or sharp transitions.
Percon is also unveiling new, modular Keystone system patch panels, offering a wide range of adapters, including Cat6A network, HDMI, USB and fibre optic modules. They are designed to provide greater connector versatility in space-constrained environments.
