Control Technology in a Changing Broadcast World

The heavily discussed “shift” from baseband to IP-based broadcast infrastructure and production has implications not only for live and studio productions, workflows and hardware manufacturers. Changes in the singular function of hardware components to multiple processes being carried out by the same generic item of hardware also affect the role of an overall control layer. Control systems act as a tool for man-machine interaction and include as many of the functions of the hardware as possible within their control logic. In this white paper, we give a short introduction to basic ideas and issues regarding broadcast and media control. With the control tool “hi human interface” from Broadcast Solutions we have followed new ideas and developed an intuitive control system, easy to operate, scalable from small to big infrastructures and the perfect solution for man-machine interaction.
