UK broadcaster ITV and investment group RedBird IMI are reportedly in early-stage talks about merging their respective production businesses, ITV Studios and All3Media.
Reuters reported that ITV may separate out its broadcast business and merge its ITV Studios division with All3Media. Both RedBird IMI and ITV would hold stakes in the combined studio entity.
Quoting two people with knowledge of the situation, Reuters said the talks were at an early stage and may not lead to any transaction.
A merger between All3Media and ITV Studios would create one of the largest production groups in Europe, alongside rivals Banijay, BBC Studios and Fremantle.
All3Media is home to more than 40 production companies in the UK, US and Germany, with hubs in the Netherlands, Belgium and New Zealand. It is behind shows such as The Traitors, Life On Our Planet, Squid Game: The Challenge and Call the Midwife.
ITV Studios is home to 60 production labels in 13 countries and shows such as The Voice, Love Island, Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Fool Me Once.
ITV explored the possibility of acquiring All3Media in 2023 from its then joint owners Liberty Global and Warner Bros Discovery. However, All3Media was eventually acquired last year by RedBird IMI.
