The technical management team at NEP has ordered 50 Merging Technologies Anubis audio interface desktop units, which the vendor refers to as the “Swiss army knife,” of audio.

NEP is deploying them to serve a number of functions for its virtual editing platform (VEP), which allows the sharing of resources and productions over multiple remote locations.

John Guntenaar, lead solutions consultant, NEP, said his mission was to try to find one box that served a number of functions and provided the right features for the VEP. He said that it obviously had to be capable of working in an ST 2110 environment and able to receive and transmit AES67 streams, but it also needed to provide a way to listen to the streams on headphones or speakers with volume control. He added that having on-board mic pre-amps for voiceover recording was a bonus, as was the ability to handle a large number of streams that can be increased by adding I/O.

Merging Technologies is exhibiting at IBC2019 on Stand 8.E96.
