- Chernobyl leads Bafta TV and Craft Awards with 14 nominations
- Ceremony set to take place behind closed doors on 17 July
- The Crown, Fleabag and Girl/Haji also receive multiple nods
Bafta has unveiled nominees for its TV Awards and Craft Awards, with the winners set to be revealed on Friday 17 July in a behind closed doors after they were delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Chernobyl leads the field at this year’s Awards with 14 nominations, making the Sky miniseries one of the most nominated shows of all time. It received 11 nods for the Bafta Television Craft Awards and three for the TV Awards.
The Crown picked up seven nominations, while Fleabag and Girl/Haji both garnered six nominations apiece. Other shows recognised include The Virtues, Killing Eve, Sex Education and Top Boy. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who wrote and starred in Fleabag, received three nominations, tying with co-star Jamie Demetriou as the most-nominated individual.
The ceremony will be hosted from a closed studio by comedian Richard Ayoade, with winners set to give acceptance speeches virtually. It will be broadcast on BBC One.
Bafta’s Craft Awards, meanwhile, which celebrate behind-the-scenes achievements, will be streamed on 17 July, hosted by fellow comic actor Stephen Mangan.
Categories such as writing, sound, editing and production design will be handed out at the Craft Awards, while prizes for acting and best overall series will be announced at the Bafta TV Awards.
