- All3Media launches new prodco with ex-Field Day exec Angel
- Angelica Films will focus on factual and documentaries
- New prodco already has two unnamed projects in development
All3Media has announced a partnership with Sally Angel to launch a new production company focused on developing factual documentary shows for international broadcasters and platforms.
Angelica Films, which will be led by former Field Day Productions executive Angel, will create factual, specialist factual and documentaries for the UK and international markets.
Angel has previously developed shows including Tea With The Dames, as well as Channel 4 observational documentary Inside The American Embassy and the short-form series Missed Call, which was co-produced with All3 sibling Little Dot Studios.
Angel, who becomes MD and creative director of Angelica Films said: “The Angelica team is thrilled to have found a home at All3 and excited about bringing our creative storytelling to the table and working with All3 and the best talent in TV to offer something new to the market. Although it’s early days for Angelica, we are delighted to already have two projects in paid development.”
Superindie All3Media is the largest UK consolidator according to Broadcast’s Indie Survey, with a UK production turnover of £486.3 million.
Speaking to IBC365 prior to her speaker slot at IBC2019, All3Media CEO Jane Turton said the company is mulling over expansion options, and remains open to “good acquisitions” and funding new start-ups, on top of organic growth.
It owns many of the UK’s top production companies, including Studio Lambert, Raw TV, Neal Street Productions and Two Brothers Pictures.
Since Turton took over in 2015, All3Media has expanded heavily in scripted, acquiring Neal Street Productions (Call the Midwife, Penny Dreadful, Informer) in 2015; New Pictures (The Missing, The Spanish Princess) in 2016; and Two Brothers Pictures (Fleabag, The Widow) in 2017. It also owns Studio Lambert and Raw TV.
Turton said: “We are delighted to be setting up this new label within All3 and really excited to have Sally bring her award-winning creativity and talent to head it up. She has a great slate of ideas and developments that are designed to meet the growing demand for high-end factual and specialist factual content from UK and international broadcasters and platforms.”
