- “Competition to reach the shortlist of hotly contested,” said judging chair
The Royal Television Society has unveiled the nominations for its 2020 Television Journalism awards with the BBC leading with 28 nominations and ITV following with 10.
The 19 categories spanning both news and current affairs aim to recognise creative and excellent journalism by organisations whose broadcasts are transmitted on a UK-based platform, or who create online video content from a UK production base.
The BBC’s success comes as it has announced an overhaul of its news operation, which includes cutting 450 jobs.

RTS Television Journalism Awards chair Simon Bucks said: “The quality of entries this year has been better than ever.
“With such a high bar, the competition to reach the shortlist was hotly contested and all the nominees in every category would be worthy winners.”
