Jan de Wever, Project Manager Innovative Technology, NewsCity, DPG Media Belgium
Jan is a broadcast professional and Project Manager Innovative Technology at NewsCity, DPG Media Belgium. Trained as a classical video engineer, he worked over 10 years as a cameraman, playout operator, production manager, multicam director, and other roles in the industry. Since then, he developed IP and IT skills and evolved towards developing and implementing workflows and automation to help journalists produce quality audio and video content, without the technicalities or crew normally associated with such processes.
He regularly speaks about these subjects at international conferences and tradeshows.
His main interests are innovating whenever possible, audio and video over IP, and making sure news is being produced, whenever news breaks.
Stephen Willmott, Head of Technology & Operations, GB News
Stephen Willmott is Head of Technology and Operations at GB News, a start-up digital news broadcaster in the UK. Originally a television director, he has implemented automated studios, led newsroom transformations, and worked on an IP 2110 headquarters in Australia. At GB News he drives the strategy to deliver the technology and workflows for live news content across television, radio, digital and online.
Daniel Vestergaard, Head of Technical Operations – DR News and Sports
Daniel Vestergaard is leading the technical and technological development of the News and sports division of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation – DR through a strategic digital transformation. He has a special focus on creating the best circumstances for dialogue between journalistic ambition and production creativity. Using his work experience at all levels of the classical broadcasting workflow, he is implementing new technological developments into a modern public broadcaster without disrupting one of Denmark’s largest multi-platform newsrooms.
DR has been working story-centric in their Newsroom for several years on their in-house tool “Nyhedstavlen” that facilitates a common journalistic line across all their platforms including video, web, and audio. The next logical step is to integrate the whole production pipeline along with the output systems to let DR operate more strategically on live data.
Marc Lefebvre, Senior Director, Operations - CBC News
Marc Lefebvre is the Senior Director of Operations for CBC News where he leads and provides strategic oversight of media operations, production, resources and technical services across CBC’s journalism division in support of editorial and audience objectives.
With a background in producing lifestyle and entertainment programs, Marc has held several leadership roles in operations at CBC, having overseen regional operations in Western Canada and then content management for the organisation before taking on his current role in the spring of last year.
Marc has established himself as a transformational leader within CBC, guiding his teams to reorganise and redefine themselves in alignment with CBC’s audience strategy and to enable success on digital platforms. He believes in enhancing the employee experience by empowering teams to improve workflows, simplify tools and forge a more collaborative, open and inclusive culture.
