“As long as I have been in the media world I have been told linear broadcast is going to fall off a cliff,” said Hardiman.
Ericsson’s 2017 Consumer Labs report is a comprehensive study of global viewing habits.
”We found in last year’s study social media and social media around linear broadcast and augmented and virtual reality adding value to linear broadcast.
“Smartphone viewing has doubled since 2012, 70% of us have smartphone viewing as part of our daily viewing experience; that is not going away. Mobile viewing is increasing and has doubled since 2010 and we are expecting by 2020 to be at least half of the viewing experience.”
