IBC2022: Media business want to provide their viewers a variety of video content and the best video streaming experience possible, but video content providers almost always provide their content as large mezzanine files in different formats, not suitable for streaming, which have to be prepared for IPTV and OTT services requiring different video, audio, subtitle, and supplementary file formats. The more content and variety of formats there are, the harder it is to handle them all using manual processes. It quickly becomes apparent that the whole process should work automatically starting from ingesting from the content provider up to publishing to the streaming service. And this is what Telia does. All different scenarios necessary for large telco VOD workflows have been implemented including the transcoding of large back-catalog made up of tens of thousands of content hours and regular daily additions. This presentation demonstrates how Telia’s transcoding solution works and includes the real-life case study from Telia Play.
