RiksTV-owned Norwegian streaming service Strim has picked Norigin Media to build its new TV apps for smart TVs, enabling it to expand its streaming service onto large screens.
Strim currently provides Norwegian linear TV channels as well as VoD content on PCs, Macs, Android and iOS/TvOS devices. It will now be able to use Norigin Media’s TV app framework and development services to launch its service on smart TVs.
The framework is based on React and is supported by all key manufacturers of smart TVs and consoles, including Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony and PlayStation.
Jérôme Franck-Sætervoll, CEO, RiksTV, said: “We saw a great need for Strim to be available also on smart TVs, which are fast becoming the chosen method of streaming television. We’re glad to collaborate with Norigin Media to expand the reach of our OTT service into all living rooms in Norway.”
RiksTV provides digital TV and HDTV via antenna and the internet in Norway. Norigin Media is a Scandinavian company offering streaming TV technology solutions and services for broadcasters, pay-TV operators and OTT service providers.
