Industry influencers and innovators are called to submit their achievements across the media, entertainment and technology industry for the annual IBC Awards, with two new categories added to this year’s programme.
The IBC Awards celebrate the success of organisations and individuals that have made a positive social impact and achieved industry excellence.
Last year, Eurosport, Medialaan, RTÉ, Econet Media, BBC R&D as well as Sesame Street co-creator Joan Ganz Cooney were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the industry.
Reflecting the changes to the industry, IBC has announced two new award categories:
- The Young Pioneer Award celebrates the newest and brightest talent and recognises outstanding passion, ambition and commitment from those involved in either a creative, technical, commercial or strategic role. The top rising stars will be profiled on IBC365 with the stand out entrant taking home the Young Pioneer Award.
- The Social Impact Award recognises a company initiative or campaign that is making a positive impact on the wider world and tackling an issue that is important within the context of the industry such as sustainability, diversity or health.
Both the Young Pioneer and Social Impact Awards are free to enter.
IBC head of event content Jaisica Lapsiwala said: “It is important for IBC to shine a light on rising talent and to recognise achievements that push the industry to ever greater heights.
”We are excited to introduce these new awards to celebrate how talented professionals in our sector are accomplishing great things.”
Recognising excellence
Returning to IBC2019 are the Innovation Awards that seek to champion the creativity of projects and the teams behind them.
The three Innovation Awards categories are:
- Content Creation
- Content Distribution
- Content Everywhere
Entrants are encouraged to showcase productive collaborations that have led to innovative solutions for the challenges and opportunities across the industry.
As the disruption of the media, entertainment and technology industry continues and the convergence with other verticals accelerates, successful submissions will demonstrate ground-breaking innovation and creative problem-solving in a real-world setting.
The Awards ceremony takes place during IBC on Sunday 15 September in the RAI Auditorium, Amsterdam.
The ceremony will also see several Outstanding Achievement Awards bestowed by the judges, including IBC’s most prestigious award, the International Honour for Excellence.
The deadline for submissions for all categories is Tuesday 23 April 2019.
